Course overview
Density around transit only works when movement, programme, public realm and water are planned together. This course teaches the transferable planning and urban-design method for a transit-served mixed-use district: analysing the transit context and catchment, setting a development programme and unit mix, testing density and massing alternatives against solar orientation and pedestrian comfort, structuring a pedestrian-first street hierarchy with cycling and micromobility, integrating the transit stop, planning plazas, pocket parks and green corridors with active ground-floor frontages, resolving podium and structured parking with service and emergency access, and building a stormwater and resilience strategy using bioswales, permeable surfaces, green roofs and shaded public space — then sequencing all of it into a credible phasing plan and concept presentation.
