Client-style brief
A landowner is testing three development capacities on a synthetic mixed-use site beside a low-rise historic street. Two earlier schemes were refused because the visual effect on the street was argued rather than shown. The brief is to build a context massing model, test the three capacity options in three dimensions and produce a communication set that lets a committee see the consequences of each option.

Synthetic 1.8-hectare urban site with a supplied survey, building footprints and heights for the surrounding blocks, a conservation frontage to the south and three capacity briefs of 120, 180 and 240 homes with ground-floor commercial space.
Planning problem
Capacity arguments collapse when they are made in numbers alone. Height, overshadowing, enclosure and the relationship to an existing street are three-dimensional questions, and a decision-maker who cannot see them will assume the worst.
